Life long Lessons Hiking taught me about Entrepreneurship
This weekend, I went to bed at 10 pm and woke up at 1 am to be picked up for a hike, climbing Mount Batur in Bali, Indonesia.
If you know me, you will know that of late, a lot of my reflections in sports and life directly relate to entrepreneurship. I’m in awe of the fact that if we simply observe, we can learn a lot about life.
The first key lesson I learned was:
knowing your WHY takes you a LONG way.
I wanted to do this hike because, at the core, I believe I am an adventurous person who pushes herself to explore life. So when the alarm went off at 1 am and I obviously wanted to stay in bed, I pushed that feeling away because my WHY dragged me out.
And so the mini-journey began. I had 2 hours in the car before we reached the starting point. As uncomfortable as it was, I found the best way to position and maximize my sleep because you “make the best of your situation.” The same goes for entrepreneurship — you use what you’ve got, take action, and create.
After a broken but extra sleep, nevertheless, we began our hike. I felt a rush of adventure, beauty, and awe looking up at the clear sky (exactly how I felt at the start of business — freedom, excitement, and thrill). And like clockwork, as you…
